12:16 pm - the "official" goodbye
I haven't posted on here for at least a year, but I thought it was time to make things official.

I don't update my LJ any longer, and I doubt I will in the future. It was mostly a fun way to stay connected with friends and fandoms in high school -- which is long since over.

So this is the post saying "goodbye, check me out on facebook, de-friend me if you want." I still come on occasionally to drop a comment or make a connection, but this is a ghost journal.

Best wishes to you all.

Wanna know more about me? Forget LJ; visit my Facebook!

P.S. If you're a new Houghton buddy, be afraid. Be very afraid. The rest of my flist has already been sufficiently warned, but I thought you'd appreciate an extra heads-up since you're new and all.

10:12 am - What's the point?
It has been several long months since I've posted on here, mainly because I've lost my RL ties to LJ. Honestly, it's more important to me to write what I'm feeling in my actual journal, where they will still be in 10+ years. How long is this little thing going to survive?

Well, maybe I'll get back into it at college. Maybe not...facebook is more fun, anyway, because their photo-uploading system is so easy.

Ta ta for now, darling.

So it's been awhile. I'm back from NC...the mission trip was great...meh. I like you, LJ, but I like my real journal better. I'm boring, I know.

12:15 am - What have I done?!
Danielle and I went to the strawberry festival today and ate a whole pint of Ben & Jerry's Fossil Fuel. Afterwards we fed at the barn (I miss horses!) and went back to my house to watch Never Been Kissed and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. We definitely liked the second one better, although we agree that Drew Barrymore is awesome.

We also agreed that we'd give up sugar for a whole week until we leave on the missions trip.

Darnit, we're crazy.

On a slightly happier note, I have now added three new albums to my facebook account, so if you're interested in the senior trip, French events, or graduation, head right over here.

Good. Night.

There are so many things about the past two weeks that I don't want to forget. Playing Red Light, Green Light and Duck-Duck-Goose on the beach during the senior trip; tripping down the aisle at graduation; Danielle's father yelling, "All Hail the Queen!" when she got her diploma (I never want to forget that); playing Mau in Jenna's basement ("Leroy Nappins!"); Senior Sunday at church; getting our tassels; giving Madame her scrapbook; Kim Mook's graduation speech; sneaking out to Ms. I's last Advanced Writing class during the senior breakfast; Mr. Holding's present; going back to school nearly every day even though I'd graduated; the senior cruise on Boston Harbor; going to six different parties in three days; the hot tub at Danielle's; the hammock at Hannah's; somehow saying goodbye to Madame; burning 18 French CDs; cleaning Mrs. Sewell's room; one last ice cream run with Dara (to Christopher's this time); writing thank-yous with Kim and Jenna; crashing at Kim's to write my term paper...so many memories.

I'm going to miss high school. A lot. But I'm also ready, I think, to move on.

I can't wait to meet new people, get to know my roommate, go to London, take college classes, adapt to dorm life, be free (in a way), and have Christian professors. I can ask them to pray for me without feeling awkward...oh, I'm really looking forward to that. College is going to be amazing. I won't forget my roots, no doubt about that...and I'm going to enjoy this summer with my friends...but there's such a bright future out there.

I am sitting here surrounded by graduation cards. My grandparents have just given me $50 that will probably go straight into the gas tank of a car my parents will try to sell in two months. Five of my friends have now invited me to their June 17 graduation parties. I have turned in all of my NHS hours and am only waiting for a tassel before I go on my way.

I have two more Advanced Writing classes left. I have four days of math, including our two-day final, to survive. I have one more Physics project, one more AP English project, one more French project, and one more Latin exam to complete. I don't have near enough time to write my teachers thank-you cards. How can you thank a teacher for all they've done for you?

Someone put donuts in the senior lounge again today. If I don't write that down I know I'll forget it. Note to self: the senior lounge = Gregor's room.

Purple lettuce is a strange idea.

12:07 am - la soirée
We had a French party tonight at Andrew the Overachiever's house. It was so much fun. There was great food, a volleyball net, music for dancing, and of course Madame. Danielle, Jenna, and I ended up showing most of the other people how to line dance, and Madame was certainly a willing student. Oh my goodness, we have so much fun with her! How are we ever going to leave?

I realized today that I have all of my finals next week. My final finals at HBHS. Physics is next Monday (yiii!), Math is Wednesday/Thursday, Latin is Wednesday, our French project is due Wednesday, and our English project is due Wednesday. So Tuesday night's looking prettygoshdarnbad at the moment.

I need to go do math that was due last Friday. Senioritis isn't always fun.

I have an English paper due Monday Tuesday, which means I'm back to the old standby: updating my lj! I am here to reacquaint you with my views on Taylor Hicks, share a few well-intentioned quotes, complain about my lack of English skill, fangirl Snape, and convince you lot that I'm not as insane as I seem. (Doubtful.)

So: Taylor Hicks. Yeah, he's cool. Yeah, I voted for Kat. I know, I know; you lot hate her, think she's a fake, a snob, a slut (don't know where you're pulling that theory from, but it's out there nonetheless). And I say, "Darnit, she can sing, she's pretty, she's talented, and she's open -- what's not to like?" Some of you think she's stupid. Yeah, so she says stupid things sometimes. So do I, and quite frequently at that. But I'd buy her CD. Taylor Hicks? I'd see him in concert. I like the guy; he's so unique. But I'm a Kat fan.

"The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it." - George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
To which I say: Simon Cowall in a nutshell.

"Problems worthy of attack prove their worth by fighting back." - Paul Erdos (1913-1996)
My Honors Physics experience, through and through.

I'm so annoyingly untalented!!! Stupid English paper. I can't write. I'm too perfectionistic. Whinge, whinge, whinge. I need two pages by the end of tonight, four by the end of tomorrow, and at least two more after that. I'm so bad at this!!!! *emo*

Btw, Snape's cool. <333 And I have an absolutely insane urge to go find a really good Harry Potter fanfic and read about their graduation and how they're leaving Hogwarts and they don't know when they're going to reunite or how often or something like that...and it's all going to be over for them, no more inter-House competitions or Quidditch games, and they don't know how to deal with it...!

I'm going to quitter and go be productive.

current mood: sigh.

I'm sitting here in Kim's kitchen as we work on our second-to-last Physics project ever. In less than a month we will graduate from high school, and in three months I will have left for college. Prom, graduation, trebuchets, birthday parties, and wisdom teeth will be things of the past. Kim and I will be hundreds of miles apart and my van will be sold.

Sometimes it's hard, so hard
Most times I cry
Well, God knows this heart of mine
He feels the pain inside

College will be wonderful, I know, but I'm not ready to leave this world yet. There are so many things to remember about this year, senior year, the best year of high school. What will I do without Ms. I, Mr. Holding, Mr. Boucher, my parents, my friends...? No one at college will have any idea who I'm talking about if I mention them.

How am I going to do this?

2:39 pm - prom prom prom
Prom was absolutely amazing. It couldn't have been better.

We had so much fun getting ready at Jenna's beforehand. Bethany, Kim, Danielle, Jenna, Paula, Hannah, Heather, Erin, Alison, Elizabeth and I were all there. One of the women from Kim's church came and did our makeup, which was wonderful. There's a picture of me getting mascara'd on my facebook. In fact, all of my prom pics are on facebook. Go check them out here. (Don't worry, more are coming soon!)

The limo was even better than last year because all of the people in it were girls, and we had some...interesting conversations. I love, love, love limos. I love, love, love my friends. Everyone looked beautiful in her own way, even though we all looked so different.

We danced all night long. There was even a country song for Bethany, Danielle, and Jenna -- and THE SWING DANCE WAS AWESOME! There are so many good memories...there's no way I could write them all down. So I won't even try....

Katharine...you'd just better win!!!

It's not fair to leave you with an eight-word entry, so I'm back for more. I've had a sleep-deprived week so far and it doesn't seem to be getting any better over the next couple of days. Honors Physics test today, oh wasn't that fun. I actually don't think I did too badly on it considering I started the three-week-old practice problems two days beforehand.

If I didn't have senioritis before, I certainly do now. All I want is to SLEEP and do English. In that order, please. I wouldn't complain if a bit of prom was thrown in as well. Which brings me to...

PLEASE, PLEASE COMMENT WITH YOUR FAVORITE TWO. Even if you're a guy. I'm DESPERATE here. If you're bored, you can let me know your least favorite two as well. Keep in mind that I don't have such insanely gorgeous hair as some of these people. ^_^;;

3:09 pm - a real update
I haven't been keeping up with the darling LJ too much, but I suppose that's really okay. All my efforts have been going into AP English. And I LOVED Emma. I've been writing my journal on it over the past week and I'm actually super-excited about doing my term paper on it. Is that really weird? That I'm excited about a term paper, I mean? >O.o< Oh well.

I have this gorgeous picture from an old calendar of my mother's on my windowsill. The image is of a forest bathed in sunlight, with rays peeking between the trees. It's so lovely. I wish I could run away to that forest and read a book. I do not want to do Physics, Pre-calc, French, or Latin. I just want to live in English class for the next month and enjoy being here.

I just picked up the phone and started saying, "Monument Square Market, how may I help you?" Must be careful about that.

9:45 pm - Whew!
What an insanely busy week. On Monday I was welcomed back to school after an awesome week of vacation only to take two AP tests in one day -- AP English Language at 8:00 and AP French Language at 12:00. English = good, French = very very bad. Tuesday was simply lovely. All the AP test-takers had to catch up in class, which was much harder than expected. Mr. Boucher did ALL of the notes on sound waves, beat, and frequency on Monday. GAAAAH.

English is the only class I've really paid attention to this week. We did a crash-course in poetry that proved helpful on Thursday's AP English Literature. My essays were HORRIBLE, though. (Why did I use EMMA? WHY DIDN'T I USE JANE EYRE?! *sigh*)

I'm so behind in Math and Physics. We had an AP journal due today. Naturally I finished it during third period. 4286 words, woo-hoo!

I'll bet this is one of the most BORING entries in the history of the world. I'm sorry. I just can't think coherently right now.

To the RL flist: if you're near Milford or Amherst tomorrow, stop by Souhegan Congregational and support our massive yard sale. All proceeds go to this summer's workcamp in South North Carolina!

Thanks to regann, I have another reason to post to LJ.

The meme:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

3:54 pm - vacation week should be "vacation month"
I've been having way too much fun doing nothing this week. Fanfiction and books have dominated my life...unfortunately, Emma has been pushed to the back burner. It's not that I don't like it, although I can sense I'll never be as fond of it as Pride and Prejudice, but I really haven't hit the "AP Journal panic button" yet. Yeah, so it's a due a week from tomorrow...I'm a third of the way through the novel...ho hum.

Monday is going to be awful. Four hours of an AP English test I haven't practiced for, followed by four hours of an AP French test I'm doomed to fail. Eighty-three dollars down the drain. But before all the shock and horror of Monday, I will see Kim, Sarah, and Mrs. Sewell. At least I'll have some fun.

Prom in sixteen days!

EDIT: So I'm reading my fanfic, trying to escape from my lovely AP English work, and at the bottom of chapter 10 the author mentions Emma as a reference for one line...here, I'll let you read it.

Hermione paraphrases Jane Austen's Emma, when Mr. Knightley asks Emma if she will now call him George and she responds, "'Impossible!--I never can call you any thing but "Mr. Knightley."'" The recent film version of Emma rewrites the scene with "now I may call you 'My Mr. Knightley.'"

So even McAmy wants me to work. *sigh* On the bright side, this is inspirational -- that must mean Emma falls for him! *fangirling*
